We Imagine a Borderless Village
Part of a series recapping Health Talks: Bold Ideas to Transform Health Care. Ten inspiring speakers, comprising a blend of health care providers and the public, used the Pecha Kucha-powered 20 x 20 format (20 slides, 20 seconds each) to answer our question: What are your hopes for a better health care system?

Diane Roberts is artistic director of Urban Ink Productions. As an accomplished director, dramaturge, writer and cultural animator, she has collaborated with innovative theatre visionaries and interdisciplinary artists for the past 25 years. She has also been a speaker at Pecha Kucha Night Vancouver and was brought back to its “all-star edition.”

Steven Lewis, the night’s emcee, described Diane as the “Lady Gaga of Pecha Kucha.” Her dramatic flair showed as she began her presentation by singing. She then spoke about remembering our past, creating our health care legacy, and building a borderless village.

Graphic Illustration
Graphic facilitator Avril Orloff transformed the Health Talks speakers’ words into brilliant illustrations. Her visual interpretations, which she steadily sketched beside the audience on a giant posterboard, captured compelling moments of each presentation over many different topics. Diane’s graphic is displayed on the left.
