Change the Mental Health Conversation
Part of a series recapping Health Talks: Bold Ideas to Transform Health Care. Ten inspiring speakers, comprising a blend of health care providers and the public, used the Pecha Kucha-powered 20 x 20 format (20 slides, 20 seconds each) to answer our question: What are your hopes for a better health care system?

Lesley Varley is the director of Aboriginal programs for the Provincial Health Services Authority. She highlighted the importance that history and culture can play in health care and used great, personal images to connect with the audience.

Graphic Illustration
Graphic facilitator Avril Orloff transformed the Health Talks speakers’ words into brilliant illustrations. Her visual interpretations, which she steadily sketched beside the audience on a giant posterboard, captured compelling moments of each presentation over many different topics. Leslie’s graphic is displayed on the left.
