Our pre-Forum sessions are a great opportunity to enrich your Quality Forum experience, by spending a full day thinking deeply about a critical topic in quality.

This year, we’re partnering with the First Nations Health Authority in offering a full-day session on Indigenous health and cultural safety. The Best of Both Worlds: Dimensions of Quality, Indigenous Perspectives explores the question of how western health care systems can incorporate Indigenous concepts of health and wellness into their quality frameworks. The day is open to anyone, but will be particularly valuable to anyone who wants to better understand Indigenous wellness, and be an ally to Indigenous communities in BC.

The day follows cultural protocols from the Squamish Nation, with a territorial welcome, blessing, and opening prayer from Elder Syexwáliya Whonnock. The day will also include:

  • A Round Dance with Coast Salish drummers
  • A commitment blanket ceremony
  • Three plenary presentations
  • Four breakout session streams: Emotion (cultural safety), Illumination (developing a quality agenda), Introspection (working as an ally), and Wisdom (quality improvement)
  • A ribbon ceremony

The day will close with an invitation for all attendees to join the evening reception prior to Health Talks.

There are still opportunities to register for this event! See all the session descriptions and register now.
