Quality Forum 2019 was a three-day event, with pre-Forum events taking place on Tuesday, February 26 and its main two days of programming taking place on Wednesday, February 27 and Thursday, February 28, 2019.
The Forum is organized by the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council. We provide system-wide leadership to efforts designed to improve the quality of health care in British Columbia. Through collaborative partnerships with health authorities, patients, and those working within the health care system, we promote and inform a provincially-coordinated, patient-centred approach to quality. We also provide advice and make recommendations to the Minister of Health.
We also provide a bridge to the best knowledge in health care quality available across Canada and beyond. We seek out national and international partnerships that provide knowledge and insights of value to BC, adapt these new ideas to meet the needs of our health care system, and work with our partners to put them in place.
Main 2 Days
The main two days featured presentations and interactive workshops on a variety of topics related to improving quality across the continuum of care. They was a mix of content that was suggested by past participants, that the event’s Steering Committee felt should be showcased, as well as presentations and storyboards chosen though our Call for Abstracts.
Participants traveled on field trips, so that they could learn lessons from other industries that are applicable to health care. Plenary presentations, a debate and a storyboard reception also brought participants together to learn, to be entertained, and to be inspired.
All told, Quality Forum 2019 was a great opportunity to learn new skills and strategies, discuss opportunities and challenges, and network with others interested in improving health care in British Columbia.
